Does the NYTimes have a liberal bias? I hope so.

I zapped this letter to The New York Times, today.

Human beings cannot create anything that is perfect. No journalist or the medium for which he works can be perfectly objective. Strive for perfect objectivity, yes, obtain it, no. We are imperfect creatures and that which we create is imperfect also.

That is why I hope the NYT does have a liberal bias. At least the liberals will admit they were wrong will those on the right will never admit they made a mistake.

There is hope if there is a liberal bias. We are lost if it is the other way around.

To Future Archeologist

I sent this to the Chattanooga Times some time in the past. It was in relation to the Kennewick man controversy.

If at some time thousands of years from now, you dig up my bones and find other artifacts with them, you have my permission to study them at length. I would insist that you do so if you know little to nothing about what was the United States of America or a city called Chattanooga.

If over the passage of time all knowledge of the people of this city, their culture and way of life, and their connection to the larger culture we called America is lost, then I would think it is your duty as well as any human being to learn all you can from my bones and any artifacts you find.

The holocaust that came to the ancestors of Native Americans when Europeans invaded the Americas 500 years ago is similar to what happen to my ancestors 2000 years ago when the Romans came to my ancestors’ village. The major difference was that brutality of the Romans was greater than that of the Europeans and the events were not recorded for history as well as what happen to the ancestors of Native Americans was documented. Because of this documentation the culture, language, and even names and lives of individual Native Americans whose tribes or clans have disappeared will be known as long as our current civilization continues. As for my ancestors, I only know little to nothing of their language, culture, and nothing of were the village actually was located.

For this is what separates us from the other animals: “Our ability to accessorize,” and our ability to remember and know all ancestors of all people of the world. For as long as we remember people and their culture, they are not completely dead – they still live.

To Creationist Bastards

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, render unto God that which is God’s. Science (and the knowledge of evolution) is within the domain of Caesar. Thus, give science its due.

Creationist, if you don’t believe evolution is true, don’t get tuberculosis thinking they will treat it with the same old antibiotics they always have. The bacterium has evolved.

If evolution does not exist, then horticulture does not exit. For they are both a form of selective breeding – which could not exist in the creationist’s world. To allow horticulture and not evolution is a naïve belief.

I know you – you creationist holier than thou bastard. (You are a bastard. Your claims of the Father have no grounds in faith.) You stood in courtyard and yelled as your religious leaders bade you to do. You called for Barabbas. You saved a criminal and sent the most innocent man that ever existed to the cross, and thought you had done what was right and proper. Jesus was not crucified by the Jews or Romans, but by religious intolerance. The same religious intolerance that is practiced today as it was then. Pass judgment on the least of My children and you past judgment on me.

But your greatest sin is to come between God and his subjects, as though you were God. God’s greatest gift, other than life itself, is our ability to think and reason, to know the difference between right and wrong, between truth and everything else. The scientific method to determining the truth of something is at the heart of God’s gracious gift. If science tells us that we evolved from lower life forms, then accept that as truth – until science tells us otherwise. I didn’t say science was as perfect as you think you are.

God did not create a great riddle and say solve this and you will have ever lasting life. He said have faith that you were created in God’s image, live up to that image, and your life will be everlasting.Yea verily I say unto thee, go forth and do likewise.
